Triptides, Visitors

A trippy, shimmering swirl of psych-pop, Triptides are about as aptly-named as it gets but they never get lost in the haze. Like many of the best psychedelic rock albums, the songs flow into one another like one movement of a sympthony into the next, contributing to a greater whole, without being swallowed by it. The band eschews the garbled production of many of their peers, with accessible vocals and invitingly warm and jangly guitars. The music also has a kick to it, and an underlying strength; it’s ethereal, but never languid. Highlights: “Sunday in the Park,” “Mary Anne,” “The Illusion”
